One surgery that can alleviate these problems is ear surgery, otherwise known as otoplasty. For the most part, ear surgery (otoplasty) is performed on children between the ages of 4 and 14 years of age. Ears are almost fully grown by age 4, and the earlier the surgery, the less teasing and ridicule the child will have to endure. Ear surgery (otoplasty) on adults is also very beneficial. In general, ear surgery can pull and pin the ears back making them stick-out less. The ear surgery can also decrease the overall size of the ears and earlobes.
